Involvement

We have one specialist group (photography) and a number of other associated interest groups you could get involved with. There are groups for fungi, lichens, mammals, moths etc. and they welcome new members.

The society accepts members and there are openings for trustees and officers from time to time. Anyone with computer experience can update information on the website as a volunteer. Members will receive publications on a regular basis and non-member may purchase previous issues of Natterjack, Transactions and the Birds and Mammals Reports.

JOIN THE SOCIETY

Events

Norfolk Naturalists hold many informative events, in the form of workshops or educational visits to places of interest, along with talks on a wide range of subjects throughout the year. Most are free and give an opportunity to meet like-minded people with a range of knowledge and skills.

Recording Norfolk’s Wildlife

One of the pleasures of observing wildlife is putting names to species we see. Once the second name is added a list has been created and while many people make lists for their own pleasure there is always satisfaction in telling someone else. And when lists come together the total picture is even more valuable than the individual records.

Amateurs have always been at the forefront of recording, but now more so than ever; they have the time, interest and knowledge – and there are a lot of us. The NNNS, through its publications and ‘networking’, informally coordinates much of the recording activity within the county.

Welcome

Norfolk Naturalists is dedicated to research and monitoring wildlife in the county. We also produce many useful and informative publications to help identify species and report on the work that has been done.

Everyone is welcome to join educational events at venues around the county and learn from experienced guides - you are never too old (or too young) to learn!

You may also consider becoming a member with the benefit of receiving the quarterly bulleting, occasional guides and the annual Birds and Mammals Report. You can also download Species Guides to help identify spieces you see

We encourage people to make a note of any wildlife they have spotted by reporting to one of the many County Recorders
